China's first national standard for regional management of food safety will be implemented as of September 1.

Recently, it was learned from the National Standards Committee that the National Standard for Management of Primary Agricultural Product Safety Regionalization (GB/T26407-2011), drafted by the Shandong Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, has passed the review and is about to be released to the whole society, and in 2011, 9 Formally implemented on the 1st of the month. The issuance and implementation of this standard indicates that the regional management of food safety in China will have national standards, and it will also provide a scientific theoretical basis for the construction of quality and safety demonstration areas for export agricultural products.

At the beginning of 2007, facing the severe food safety situation at home and abroad, Shandong Inspection and Quarantine Bureau carried out long-term exploration and practice and carried out pilot work on regional management in Anqiu City, Weifang. Subsequently, under the care and support of the AQSIQ and the Shandong Provincial Party Committee and the provincial government, the regional management system was promoted in more than 60 counties and urban areas in Shandong Province where agricultural planting, breeding, and food processing industries are relatively concentrated. In 2009, the AQSIQ and Shandong Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government jointly held a meeting for the exchange of agricultural product quality and safety regionalization management demonstration area in Shandong Anqiu, and vigorously promoted the successful experience of regional management of food safety throughout the country. Various provinces and cities have also carried out the construction of quality and safety demonstration zones for export agricultural products with their own forms and characteristics in accordance with their actual conditions. The concept of regional management has been widely recognized in various aspects. Through the implementation of regional management, Shandong exported 17.72 billion US dollars of food and agricultural products in 2010, an increase of 31.47% year-on-year, which effectively promoted the sustained, healthy and rapid development of Shandong food and agricultural products exports.

In order to further promote regional management and better regulate the construction of quality and safety demonstration zones for export agricultural products, Shandong Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, on the basis of summarizing regional management experience, took the lead in drafting the “Regional Management System for Primary Agricultural Product Safety Management” from 2008 onwards. Demand "national standards, and passed the examination and approval of experts. After the release of the standard, it can serve as a standard reference for regional governments at all levels to establish a regionalized management system, and it can also serve as a guiding document for the ongoing development of agricultural product quality and safety demonstration zones, which will greatly promote the quality and safety of export agricultural product demonstration areas.
