September 22 is the sixth international slow grain day. The National Health and Family Planning Commission Medical and Health Science and Technology Development Research Center has cooperated with more than forty hospitals in 30 cities across the country to jointly carry out the “September 22 International Slow Granulation Day Love Action”.

Slow granules ("chronic myeloid leukemia" or chronic myeloid leukemia) are a blood and bone marrow cancer. "9·22 International Slow-Pig Day Love Action" has carried out large-scale health education and free clinic activities for the current situation of many patients with slow-particle patients neglecting standardized treatment monitoring.

Statistics show that the incidence of chronic particles in China is about 0.36 per 100,000 people. In adult leukemia, chronic granules account for 15% to 20% of all cases. In the early stage, most of the slow-particles have no obvious signs or symptoms, and can remain stable for several years, and the process is slow; but if left untreated, it usually progresses to the terminal acute phase within 3 to 5 years and causes death.

Professor Jiang Qian, director of the blood ward of the Institute of Hematology, Peking University People's Hospital, said that with the advancement of science, slow granules no longer mean death. Molecular targeted drugs, tyrosine kinase inhibitors, make this malignant disease like high blood pressure and diabetes. It has become a controlled chronic disease, and the survival of most patients is close to normal.

She also stressed that monitoring is especially important for the treatment of chronic particles. The BCR-ABL fusion gene was confirmed to be the basis of the onset of chronic granules. According to the treatment guidelines, patients should have a molecular test every 3 to 6 months to observe the decline in BCR-ABL. The doctor will make a comprehensive assessment based on the test results, judge the efficacy of the medication, and adjust the follow-up treatment to ensure the best effect.

“The monitoring of slow granules is as important as taking drugs.” Jiang Qian said that doctors should pass this information to patients in a timely and extensive manner, and patients should fully understand and regularly go to the hospital for examination.
