Wuhan launches first non-smoking rectification book

(Reporter Gao Xiang) On the morning of May 4, the Wuhan City Health Supervision Office in Hubei Province conducted a non-smoking inspection of some indoor public places in the city and issued the first non-smoking rectification book after the implementation of the “smoking ban”.

To check the effect of smoking bans, the Wuhan Municipal Health Bureau organized a city (district) health supervision office to conduct a non-smoking inspection on some public places. At the Buyi Xuan Hotel in downtown Wuhan, law enforcement officers found the ashtrays on the dining table as they entered the door, and they did not see the hotel’s dedicated staff to discourage smokers. The staff of the Wuhan Sanitation Supervision Office immediately issued a sanitation supervision opinion to the hotel and ordered it to correct. According to the staff of the Municipal Health Inspection Office, this was the first book on non-smoking rectification issued by the health supervision department since the city’s public ban on smoking in the city on May 1. The inspectors made it clear that if there is no rectification at the second inspection, the hotel will be fined between 500 yuan and 1,000 yuan.
