A new technology that can reduce the mortality of cultured scallops to 20% and increase the growth rate by 40%—the new technology of scallop breeding and large-scale seed production was born in our city. This technology has recently passed the appraisal committee of the Institute of Oceanology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and other organizations and will be promoted throughout the country. China is the largest scallop-farming country in the world, and the output of scallops accounts for more than half of the total scallop production. The city is the main breeding area of scallop scallops. The highest annual output once occupied half of the country. From 1995 to 1996, the mortality rate of the scallops reached 80% and 95%, and even in some areas, the scallop production dropped drastically. Last year, the output of scallops in our city was only 10,000 tons. This scallop breeding and seed production technology was led by Professor Chang Yaqing from Dalian Fisheries University. This technology uses the seedling scallop triploid seed production technology and different geographical population hybridization and artificial seedlings cultivation methods, and cooperated with the farm to breed more than 59 million crosses of scallop scallops and triploid seedlings. Experts from the Institute of Oceanology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences believe that this project has a wide range of application prospects and will contribute to the healthy and sustainable development of scallop farming in China.
