Stanford Chinese professor develops flexible electrodes that are as soft and transparent as skin

Recently, a research team led by Chinese professor Stanford University’s Chinese professor Bao Zhenan published a report in the new issue of Scientific Progress, which they developed a polymer material with excellent conductivity and stretchability for stretching. Plastic electrode. Such a flexible electrode can also be used as a wearable electronic device. That is to say, if it succeeds, in the future, our clothes with "smart" clothes or power supply equipment in the body will no longer be blocked by rigid circuits.

In the study, Bao Zeneran's team found that the flexible polymer is very thin and has a light transmittance of 96%. It is almost a transparent material, and it also has high conductivity, which is very suitable for applying it to the substrate of the flexible electrode. In order to increase the toughness and mechanical properties of this material, the researchers added special additives to change the structure between the molecules of the material, making the polymer material easier to stretch. After testing, the new material is still stretched to twice its original length and still maintains high conductivity.

According to reports, next, Bao Zhenan and his team will verify whether the material can be implanted into the organism, whether it will cause damage to the organism.
