Silage microorganisms, in addition to soil pollution and added water, there are several major categories attached to plant raw materials such as lactic acid bacteria, enterobacteriaceae, butyric acid bacteria, yeast, mold and other microorganisms.

However, only lactic acid bacteria are beneficial. Lactic acid bacteria are the main microorganisms that produce excellent silage. They can decompose carbohydrates in silage and form lactic acid to cause lactic acid fermentation, and silage is preserved due to the activity of lactic acid bacteria. Enterobacteriaceae are facultative bacteriotrophs in silage. Escherichia coli and aerobic bacilli are predominant. Aliphatic lactic acid fermentation is carried out. Although some lactic acid is also produced, a large amount of hydrogen and carbon dioxide are produced at the same time, making a considerable portion of nutritional value. The carbohydrate becomes worthless.

The principle of silage is that silage is tightly sealed and lacks oxygen inside. After lactic acid bacteria ferment and decompose sugar, the produced carbon dioxide further excludes air. The lactic acid produced makes the feed weakly acidic, and the pH value of 3.5-4.2 can effectively inhibit the growth of other microorganisms. Finally, lactic acid bacteria are also inhibited by self-generated lactic acid, the fermentation process is stopped, and the feed enters a stable storage. However, at this time, the sugar and other nutrients in the raw materials do not lose much.
