First, keep proper temperature. The critical temperature required for dairy cows to produce milk is 20°C. It is very difficult to reach this temperature in winter, except for keeping cows in warm greenhouses. At the very least, the temperature should be maintained at 10°C.

Second, ensure comprehensive nutrition. In winter, based on feeding cows with hay or silage, the nutritional level of dairy cows should be appropriately increased. Reference feed formula: cornmeal 50%, soybean cake 30%, bran 10%, fat 3%, salt 1.5%, bone meal 2%, baking soda 1.5%, promote milk premix 2%. If there is no green feed, 3 to 5 kg of chopped carrots, potatoes, or fresh cabbage leaves should be fed daily. On the basis of the normal milk production of dairy cows, milk cows should be fed with 1 to 1.5 kg of mixed concentrate per 3 kg of milk produced.

Third, supply plenty of warm water. In winter, drinking cows with cold water will cause cows to consume a lot of body heat and reduce milk production. Insufficient drinking water will also cause some diseases in dairy cows. Therefore, it should be noted that in the winter, the cow should be supplied with enough warm water of about 16°C.

Fourth, keep the sanitation and hygiene. Dry dairy cows are conducive to insulation. Therefore, the cowshed must be cushioned, dug hay, remove excrement in time, and often sprinkle lime powder or ash in the house. This will not only reduce the humidity in the dairy house, but also prevent the disease.

Fifth, adhere to the sun movement. In fine weather, the cows should be allowed to exercise for at least 2 hours every day, and then they should be led to the sun where the sun is leeward, help and promote the digestion of cows, improve the body and milk production of dairy cows.
