On April 25, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine and the National Standardization Administration issued the National Standard for Daily Protective Masks (hereinafter referred to as the Standard), which provides protection against fine particulate matter (PM2.5) and safety performance. It is clearly stipulated that this is the first national standard for civil protective masks in China and was officially implemented on November 1.

The standard has two key indicators, namely the protection against fine particles (PM2.5) and the safety of wearing. The protection effect level is set according to the air quality category in the national air quality standard. It is divided into four levels from low to high: D, C, B, and A. Specifically: Class D is suitable for moderate (PM2.5 concentration ≤150 μg/m3) and below pollution, Class C is suitable for heavy (PM2.5 concentration ≤250 μg/m3) and below pollution, Class B applies to Severe pollution (PM2.5 concentration ≤350 μg/m3), Class A is used when the PM2.5 concentration reaches 500 μg/m3. In other words, you can look at the air pollution situation before going out, and then choose the mask to wear according to the actual situation.

In addition, in order to protect the safety of the public wearing protective masks, the standard requires that the mask should be able to protect the mouth and nose safely and securely. There should be no sharp corners and sharp edges that can be touched. Formaldehyde, dyes, microorganisms, etc. may be harmful to the human body. The factors that cause injury are detailed in the standards. It also stipulates that materials that may be harmful to the human body should not be used. Taking into account the safety of the wearer when walking, the standard stipulates that the field of view under the mask should be no less than 60 degrees, to avoid the influence of the wearer's line of sight due to the high arched arch design.

At present, China's standards for masks include "respiratory protective equipment self-priming filter type anti-particle respirator" "medical protective mask technical requirements" "medical surgical mask", but all belong to labor protection and medical protection standards. The so-called civilian anti-fog masks on the market have always lacked standard specifications.

The relevant person in charge of the National Standards Committee said that the introduction of the "Technical Specifications for Daily Protective Masks" will fundamentally change the chaotic phenomenon of the national protective mask market without any standard and no standard, and effectively regulate the market and rationally guide consumption. Play a guarantee role.
